“its not a mental breakdown i promise”
Tom Williams 2025
In Good Company
In Good Company is a series of wholesome, light-hearted videos I’m making over the next year.
Each one is dedicated to one friend at a time, basically a little tribute to the people who’ve shaped my life.
It’s meant to feel warm, casual, and personal, not like a high-budget documentary or a therapy session filmed in 4K.
What Your Episode Includes
Your video will be made up of a mix of things:
Old photos and clips: of us (probably nothing embarrassing)
New footage: I’ll film with you on a day we hang out
A casual interview: but more like a conversation than anything formal
Some deeper questions: if you’re comfortable with them
(stuff like your life motto, how you see your future, or thoughts on our friendship)
Most of the interview will be used as voice-over, so you don’t have to worry about talking “on camera” if that feels weird.
What I Need From You
Honestly?
Just to hang out, answer some questions, and be yourself.
No scripts. No performing. No pretending to be philosophical if you’re not feeling it.
Suppose you’re comfortable letting me use old photos/videos, great. If there’s anything you’d rather exclude, just say the word.
The Style/Vibe
Visually, I’m going for something inspired by:
Call Me By Your Name
In The Heights
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
light indie-documentary aesthetics
Think soft lighting, warm colors, natural moments, and a bit of that “cinematic but still real life” feel.
The editing and mood will be set to:
indie/folk music, or
something slightly comedic if that suits the tone of our friendship
Nothing overly serious — this is meant to feel alive, personal, and fun.
Why I’m Doing This
Not to be dramatic, but life goes fast, and I want to celebrate the people who’ve made mine better.
This project is my way of appreciating each person in a meaningful, creative way.
Privacy Stuff
The video will only be posted publicly if you’re cool with it.
If you only want it shared privately/unlisted, that’s totally fine.
You have full veto power on anything you’re not comfortable with.
What Happens Next
If you’re in, we’ll:
Pick a day to hang out
Film a little bit (nothing too intense)
Talk about life, our friendship, and whatever topics feel right
I edit it into something sweet that hopefully makes you smile
Previous works in a similar style.
The “Walk with Jordan” is the video that is the most similar to what i was to achieve but with a bit more detail and going into a bit more of the deeper meanings behind our friendship.
Classically, the video I’m most proud of and refer to a lot is this video, when Ind and I travelled to Amsterdam on a little weekend away. taking the same equipment i will be using to film our day out. this video came out better than i ever thought, again stylistcally this is similar to what i’m after. i also just wanted an excuse to talk about it.
Good visuals and my broken Welsh voice over, hopefully the sentimentality comes across of how i’d like to show off how i feel about my friends.
Style Choices and Theming
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Personalised to the Person.
Each episode is handcrafted and personalised to the person it’s about.
The adventure is tailored to the personality of my friends.
And what is more personal than your own handwriting? in the past, i’ve used the handwriting of my friends to convey collaboration and character within my films and this series is no exception, infact i think this is what the idea is made for.
Pictures and Polaroids
Fun fact: the project was originally called “Polaroids” as I wanted it to have a very personal title, but i thought by calling it polaroids it would of lumped me into an awkward legal battle with polaroid themselves if the the videos ever became successful and 2, i didnt want to limit myself into a creative whole of having to take a polaroid of each friends and using that for the series.
